Maybe This Is Why van Gogh Cut His Ear Off

Tinnitus.

Of course van Gogh’s story will never be settled, but when I first read this theory in some forum or another I could certainly relate.

Tinnitus is a constant sound, difficult to describe, but has been compared to air hissing (like air escaping from a balloon), ringing, or crickets. There is no silence.

Treatment yes. But no cure.

“What’s that?” “What’s that?” “What’s that?”. It is also associated with hearing loss.
