A Sense of Humour? In the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)?

Today I did a reading in Church: Exodus 32:1-14. Exodus 32:1-14 has Moses and God talking on the mountain. God is more than just a little mad about a golden calf and tells Moses to leave so He can consume the Israelites with His hot wrath.

Moses then proceeds to talk him out of it by saying, basically, “what would the neighbours think?” (In this case the neighbours are the Egyptians).

Maybe some of the stories of the Hebrew Bible  were originally told with considerably more humour then we allow for today??!

Peace,

~Jim
